Etu Pasifika Canterbury (EPC) acknowledges International Day of Older Persons (IDOOP) by highlighting the annual Mātua Olympics, which took place in Christchurch over the weekend.

The Pasifika Futures Limited (PFL) 2024 Roadshow wrapped up its journey at Tokoroa, the 16th island of the Cook Islands. The visit began at Tokoroa High School, where a lively market day showcased student talents through music, food, and vibrant colours. The event concluded with impressive Cook Islands performances.

The 2024 Pasifika Futures (PFL) Whānau Ora Conference marked a significant milestone for the Whānau Ora programme, highlighting ten years of impact in New Zealand. Bringing together over 200 PFL partners and families from around the country to Due Drop Events Centre in Auckland last week, the conference shone a spotlight on stories across PFL’s five domains: succeeding in education, living longer living better, community connection, financial freedom and family resilience.

Day two of the Pasifika Futures (PFL) Whānau Ora Conference has kicked off, with Minister of Whānau Ora, Hon. Tama Potaka, delivering the first keynote speech of the day. He began his address by emphasising the importance of spiritual health and wellbeing, particularly acknowledging the cultural practice of starting with karakia (prayer) and PFL Board Director, Sir Michael Jones’ decision not to play rugby on Sundays.

The Pasifika Futures (PFL) Whānau Ora Conference had a successful first day, with over 200 delegates from around the country gathered to celebrate ten years of the Whānau Ora programme. Stories of impact, hope and resilience were shared by keynote speakers and panellists, with an emphasis on the importance of financial freedom, health and education.

Sessions are in full swing at the Pasifika Futures Whānau Ora Conference, with keynote speaker Pelenato Sakalia (Moana Pasifika) kicking off the panel about Financial Freedom, one of the five domains of the Whānau Ora programme.

Health and education were the next sessions to take place at the Pasifika Futures Whānau Ora Conference, highlighting the importance of Pacific families living longer and better lives and succeeding in education.

The Trust Arena stadium, Auckland, where the beat of Cook Islands drums set the stage for the Tu Rangatira Awards. VIPs were greeted with a warm Turou (welcoming). It was a night dedicated to celebrating Cook Islands' accomplishments across eight exciting categories, marking the start of a thrilling two-day Te Maeva Nui festival.

The highly anticipated Te Maeva Nui festival is gearing up for another thrilling edition just a few weeks away. The event is scheduled to take place at Auckland's Waitakere District Trust Arena from September 29th to 30th.

As part of the Pasifika Futures (PFL) Whānau Ora Conference, PFL held a dinner and awards ceremony to acknowledge its partners and Whānau Ora Navigators for their work in serving Pacific families and communities. With the last conference being in 2019, the evening was an opportunity to reflect as well as celebrate as a collective.

Pasifika Futures' (PFL) CEO, Debbie Sorensen and Director of Performance and Evaluation, Seini Jensen, recently spoke at the Social Outcomes Conference hosted at Oxford University in England, which featured a globally diverse audience and representative speakers.

Pasifika Futures (PFL) partner, F’INE Pasifika Aotearoa Trust, held the opening of their annual F.I.N.E. Festival on Thursday night at the Mangere Arts Centre; the event is a Pasifika Rainbow Festival, celebrating Pasifika LGBTQI+, MVPFAFF+, Rainbow and Queer communities.
